Not sure about independence parties but, I am all for alternative histories and seeing however small it, it might change things.
And because of without them, Germany would still be the same, and with them, Saarland is just another face in the crowd.
I dislike tiny states, I want big nations XD
And thanks for not ripping my head off and saying I am against Germany, I thought that when you mentioned " number 1 European economy". I dated german girls, nice. and my gransdfather has a german family while based there.
I like history and "What-If's" even if when I make them, they probably not make much sense.
I.E. French-Danish Empire conflict with England.
I find also the German Confederation interesting, and that they at one point had like 300 minor nations or states before they started to merge and unify.
I only try to explain what I think, and when you donīt agree, well then not XD
I think itīs because of our history, during the 30-years war, Germany was splittered in hundreds of states, it lost a hundred maybe two hundred years of development, while the other empires in Europe conquered the whole world.
And after Napoleon, it was the national sacred aim of all Germans, to unite at last in a strong Reich, and itīs so sad, that still after all that, not all Germans are in one nation, so I dislike the idea of even more tiny german states that are not united. The unique culture can be safed, also when itīs part of a bigger land.
Well and so I dislike tiny states a bit^^
