Country Information:

Official Country Name: Manchuria, Manchukuo, Qing Empire. Today, she is officially called the Northeast, but many people still call her Manchuria and she insist this is her proper name in English.

Capitol: Changchun (during Manchukuo times), Shenyang/Mukden, Beijing (during the Qing Empire).

Languages: Manchu, Mandarin Chinese. She can also Mongolian, Korean (both due to having lots of Koreans and Mongols living in Manchuria, and she speaks Korean with the same accent North Korea has), Japanese (due to the occupation), Russian (due to occupation). Her Japanese contains many Chinese words but Japan forced her to speak proper Japanese.

Government: Since she is under Chinese control, she has a communist government, of course. Formerly, during the Qing and Manchukuo eras, she uses the imperial system.

Legal System: civil law, as modified by China.

Human Information:

Name: Yehenara Fodo

Meaning: Fodo means "willow" in Manchu. Yehenara comes from a name of a prominent Manchu family, which included the Empress Dowager Cixi.

Age Appearance: 17-20 years of age.

Nickname: Manshu-san by Japan, Man by China and Korea.

Gender: Female.

Birthday: October 13th. In 1635, on that date, Emperor Hong Taiji changed the name of her people from Jurchen to Manchu. The Emperor said that the word Jurchen had unfortunate connotations of being "savage" and "outsider", and he chose the name from a Buddhist deity named Manjusri.

About Them:

Personality: She is a bit resigned figure. To put, she has the shyness of Liechtenstein but the coldness and fighting prowess of Vietnam. She is also a bit fitter than usual, due to the winter climate and the fact that she's a skilled warrior. She speaks in a business-like manner, but when in a close circle of friends, she's a bit more informal. She dislikes to be ignored, but due to her situation, she is even feeling more invisible than Canada is.

Hobbies: Since she comes from a forest and plain country, she knew how to ride horses, hunt with bow and arrow and with guns, and is a skilled skater. She is a crack shot at archery, and also is very good in handling firearms, though her reluctance at first to use one nearly ended her life as a nation. She also, however, enjoys summer and in recent years, she goes south to the Chinese resorts in winter to escape the cold. She is talented in winter sports like figure and speed skating and ice hockey. In summer sports she plays with summer sports like volleyball, basketball and soccer but is just an average player.

Physical Attributes:

Description: Basically a tall Asian woman, but would be considered still as small by Caucasian standards. She wears short black, or dark-brown hair cut in a bob. She has a diagonal scar in her face due to an injury China inflicted on her during the fall of the Qing Dynasty. Sometimes, she wears a yellow flower-shaped hair clip on the left side in the face, and it is the shape of the emblem of the Manchukuo empire.

Height: Basically it was said that the average Manchu is 3 or 4 inches taller than the average Chinese person. If the average height of Chinese women is 5'3'', then she would be at least 5'6''. Generally the best comparison to the Manchus physical height are the Koreans, at least the Southern ones.

Weight: About 130 lbs. at the least. Again the comparison is with the Koreans who were the closest in comparison.

Outfit: Formal: she wears a red-bordered turquoise qipao. In other occasions, she wears a yellow-bordered qipao, with bigger sleeves and with white pants to match it. If she wears western wear, she wears a red sleeve-less dress.

Military: in summer, she wears a green Chinese Army uniform with ties. It was topped by a green beret. In winter, she wears a green Chinese army coat and with a Russian-style fur hat.

Casual: In winter, she wears a brown coat and with a black felt hat. In summer, she wears a white button-down cotton-shirt, usually leaving lower part unbuttoned, and with blue jeans and red sneakers.

Family and Foreign Relationships:

China: he treats her as just some clerk. Needless to say, she is not amused. She wanted to have the same relationship Prussia had to Germany. China never forgave her for conquering him and he blames Manchuria for his "weakness" during the 19th and early 20th century. He even calls her Northeast China, which offends her more. Still, both have a good relationship with each other, and China knew that he could not industrialize without Manchuria's factories and thus could not do without her.

Mongolia: She and Mongolia are quite have good relationship, despite calling out Manchuria for "going Chinese". They both take proud of the fact that they are the only two countries that conquered China completely, not just defeat.

South Korea: Treats Korea like her younger brother, but Korea refused that relationship. Korea wants to get over his usual humiliation by Manchuria during the 1600s. Again, she is not amused. However, she had plenty of respect for South Korea, and South Korea in turn want to invest more in her territory. They were surprised at each other when they learned that they both claim the Changbai Shan or Baekdu mountains were their original home.

North Korea: Same as the South, except that he accepts Manchuria as a big sister figure. Gets a rap from Manchuria for failing to run his country properly and not uniting with the South. North Korea on the other hand tells Manchuria that she does not control her side of the border properly.

Taiwan: They are like cats and dogs. This comes after Manchuria tried to invade Taiwan in the 1600s. Taiwan barely forgave Manchuria for this. Manchuria is also troubled by the fact that Taiwan wants to claim her as part of the territory along with China and Mongolia, though by now, she does not do it anymore.

Japan: She had mixed feelings with Japan. On one hand, she thanks Japan for recognizing that she is a country separate from China. But then, she realized that Japan just want control of her people, and manipulated her behind the strings in the 1930s. Not to mention the "experiments" that we need not to elaborate. She is also annoyed that somehow, she was the not the model country she wants to believe, Japan always beat her with a stick, and Japan makes examples of Manchuria to other countries if she fails any task Japan given to her. However, Manchuria still admires Japanese culture, particularly modern culture, though from time to time, she always tell Japan about what happened during the war, unnerving Japan.

Russia: Once tried to claim Manchuria as his. They even fought wars in the 17th century during the Manchu-Cossack wars. His people then settled in Manchuria, thus a reason why Manchuria picked up the Russian language. Manchuria is more suspect of Russia, because of what she have heard through Mongolia and the Central Asian republics, but she tolerates him. However, she was also burnt out when she learned that Russia after "liberating" her from Japan agreed to send her back to China and stole her belongings (her factories, office furniture, etc.).

America: Manchuria doesn't mind him. All she knows is that America spread a rumor in te League of Nations that Manchuria is a brainwashed girl by Japan and should not be treated as a country, which is only partially true. True, Manchuria is a puppet state of Japan, but in reality, she really wanted to become a truly independent country.

Brief History:
She was once a younger sister of the Jurchen Jin Dynasty in China, often accompanying Jurchen into battle. When Jurchen was killed in a fight with China in the 1400s, Jurchen told the then physically ten year old Manchuria to take her place.

In 1635, her boss Hong Taiji gave her a new name: Manchu. It was said that with this name, she will be feared throughout eastern Asia, and it shows. She also took the surname of a clan that was defeated in the struggles against the leading Manchu clan, the Aisin Gioro.

She was feared by China and Korea for her daring raids in to their territory, and this won their respect. She managed to "befriend" the Korean siblings. In 1644, her people finally conquered China's capital and declared the Qing Dynasty. She also was responsible for changing China's hairstyle into a queue.

China then married Manchuria, though their position with each other is similar to Mongolia and China during the Yuan Dynasty. However, Manchuria developed more respect to Chinese culture than Mongolia did.

In the 1800s, she felt that she is losing to China. The Taiping Rebellion and the Opium War further weakened her resolve. During the Boxer War, Russia attempted to take Manchuria with him but was stopped by Japan and America. Russia refused and by 1905 he lost to Japan in the Russo-Japanese War. Japan is now in position to influence her, but in 1911, the Manchu Dynasty fell. China felt that it was time to expel the barbarian Manchus, and he struck Manchuria in her face, earning her scar. She was later in control of a Chinese warlord, but then, when it was clear that she will return to China, in which at that time, she refuse to, Japan intervened in 1931. Japan defeated Chinese forces and proclaimed her independent. While she welcomed these events, soon it was clear that Japan is just using her. She endured more beatings than Korea and Taiwan ever got from Japan, and then she was forced to fight Mongolia in 1939 in which she lost.

In 1945, she again fought Mongolia and Russia and was defeated. She begged to Russia and Mongolia to give her another chance, but Mongolia said that he needs to get his twin Inner Mongolia back (he never did), and Russia said that they have an agreement with China to have her return to China. In the Chinese Civil War, she was instrumental in making sure the Communists win. She was also instrumental in the fight between the Koreas, giving China men and weaponry, and even personally fought in the battles in the Korean War, though she wished that the Koreas will just become one again. However, this came with a price. She was never to be referred as Manchuria again, rather as Northeast China. She was prohibited from speaking Manchu.

And when the economic reforms in China began, it didn't benefit Manchuria. She dreamt of seceding again. This alarmed China, who faced rebellion by other regions like Tibet already. Thus, China became more attentive to her, even allowing her to speak Manchu again. Today, she's in a situation similar to Prussia with Germany.
