The Sino-Tibetan War of 1950 have made it necessary to re-construct the Tibetan Army. With Indian training and Gurkhas to fill up the gap of the Tibetan ranks, Tibet had again an army to field in case the Chinese go nuts again. Although some senior Tibetan officers wanted an attack across Chamdo [today's Qamdo Tibetan Autonomous Region] and Qinghai, most are content to concentrate instead in defending Tibet proper.

Since 1959, the ranks of the Tibetan Army are based on the Indian.

Tibet has an army, take that Beijing! One slight nitpick, as Tibet uses Indian Army rank which is based on British Army rank, the single chevron does not signify private first class but Lance-Corporal or Lance-Bombardier. Apart from that pretty interesting.
