The West German people are troubled by a East German-backed insurgency, the Stasi now effectively controlling the West German militant groups like the Red Army Faction and transforming them into the Westdeutsche Volksarmee. The goal was clear: reunite Germany under East German rule. The Soviets try to reason out the East Germans to stop supplying the insurgency, believing a neutral Marxist state in West Germany like Yugoslavia would work better. Honecker then said that this is a politically ridiculous situation and continued the insurgency. The more disturbing fact is that the West German insurgents have captured combat aircraft, with East German pilots slipped in. Meanwhile, the West German government had also to contend anarchists and green insurgencies, who carried out mass executions like in Khmer Rouge-ruled Cambodia. More disturbing is the Neo-Nazi movement who wants to reunify Germany under their rule and expel US and Soviet forces there.
In 1985, a peace agreement was signed between Bonn and East Berlin, with the approval of Moscow and Washington, ending the insurgency and also talked about reunification. The last insurgents, weakened by Bundeswehr and Federal Protection Police firepower, surrendered in 1988.
The Soviets tried to "reason" with East Germany to stop them from supporting the "insurgency"? What, the 400K-odd Red Army personnel in East Germany was not enough to 'convince' the East Germans to stop (not to mention the hundreds of thousands more further east in USSR proper)?
I appreciate that the East Germans were probably the best soldiers of all the USSR's allies, but they couldn't stop the USSR from insisting they stop such foolishness. And even if the East Germans fought back, the West would probably smile privately as the Warsaw Pact engaged in fratricide. After all, I am certain that more than a few Poles would be happy to avenge their fathers, grandfathers, and more upon an upstart East Germany.
Bremen isn't that far south, why is RAMMSTEIN marked when larger, more important cities like Cologne and Düsseldorf aren't marked (I probably know part of the answer, namely that as an American air base it is often marked on maps).
Also the locations for these insurgencies seem random/based on old ideological fortresses (Munich for the Bavarian Soviet Republic, Nuremberg as the primary location for NSDAP party rallies), which make NO sense whatsoever AND West Germany reintroducing the death penalty is just absurd since the FRG NEVER had it, so even in case of larger insurgencies it would never be used.
Sorry, but both the scenario and the map itself need way too much work, even though the basic idea can work.
PS: The other cities seem (to various degrees) off as well, especially Bonn. Maybe that comes with the lack of political subdivisions on the basemap though.
Also, neo-Nazism actually is and was a lot stronger in East Germany than in Bavaria.
I also suppose this is a TL where there was no 15 July uprising in East Berlin? That pretty much destroyed Communism's considerable following in the West.
