An infobox of the former Soviet Republic of Uyghuristan. The East Turkic part of the name is added to honor the first two East Turkestan Republics. A compromise name was added because many people there thought that their country should be called by the name of the people living there. However, many say that the proper name for the Uyghur was Turki. In the end, the compromise name was added. Uyghuristan was also the only Soviet republic to restore the original Arabic script but as optional script to the Latin (official) and Cyrillic (formerly official and still in extensive use).
The Uyghur government is bothered by some thankfully small Islamic extremists. Also by heavy Chinese immigration, which Uyghuristan suspects as a plan by Beijing to reconquer the country. But then, it did use the oil wealth to improve the lives of the Uyghur. The minorities problem is a headache for Astana, Beijing (both Han and Hui), and Changchun (the Xibe living there). But at least the Uyghurs had to be soft towards the Russians.
